I have been requested to warn about an allegedly fake DMOZ resource zone. However I will not do so, actually I think that webmasters would be better served with more forums and blogs discussing DMOZ issues.

To be honest I have not taken the time to look into the new dmoz resource zone, it might be good or it might not be that good. And the DMOZ editor that tipped me off claims that they only got two DMOZ editors among their admins and moderators. The name might be a problem though, www.dmoz-resources.com, is clearly abusing the rights of both the DMOZ trademark and the better known resource zone forum. If it had not been for the fact that DMOZ is a very low priority project for AOL, it would have been very easy to legally stop this new forum.

It is a problem that the original resource zone forum, is failing to provide the webmasters with the information they actually want and need. It seems like it is more a forum for DMOZ zealots than a forum for the public, perhaps the new forum is different?
