Will Sarkozy influence the search space?

The French presidential election is possibly the single most important event of 2007. I don’t know much about the president elect Nicolas Sarkozy nor anything much about this program. I don’t read French so I have not been reading much about the candidates and the campaigns. What I do know is that the election will affect my life and your life, and the life of every man, woman and child on this planet. France is one of the most influential and powerful nations in the world. Not only is the country a security council veto power, it also has some 250 war heads, it is one of the founders of the European Union, has more than 64 million inhabitants, is the home of many of the largest business in the world and the list goes on. What happens in France is important to you know matter how you feel about the French military history.

I primarily wounder how the election will affect the Internet and search and content providers. Google has in the past had some trouble in France, and so has Yahoo and Microsoft. I also wonder how this will affect those of us who makes a living as affiliate webmasters. Will there be more french spending money online? Where will they search? From my stats ( I have some french sites), I can tell that Google has a market share of about 85% in France.

Sarkozy successfully used Google Adwords to leverage his political carrier when he was in charge of fighting african rioters in the Paris suburbs, so I guess that he has a good understanding of the internet medium.
