Failed comment bait.

What the heck is wrong with people? Hardly anyone comments on this blog, so I set up a comment bait.

Two days ago I wrote a blog post about:

  • President George Bush
  • Iraq and the Iraq war
  • Osama bin Laden and terrorism
  • Google.

I even suspended the registration requirement to comment. What the heck happend? Any combination of these for elements should have attracted atleast 20 comments. I even did commented on some over at the very right wing digitalpoint forums, I got click though allright, but no comments.

UPDATED! There was two comments waiting for moderation, but still.

  1. what i found was that hardly anyone ever commented on my blog until they really got to know me well. then, once a few buddies started commenting, other people felt comfortable doing so.

Kickin! May I spam now pls? :)

Yeah, I would ask a couple of friends outright to comment on certain posts. Not saying you should direct what they say by any means, but I think asking for input is fine. Then, in the case of political posts like that one, you might want to drop a link or two in a place where heated political discussions occur, see if anyone is interested.

  3. Hei hei,

I have the same problem, the most comments I’ve had to one blogpost is 7 I think. I did an analysis of the blogpost that had comments and the ones that didn’t, and quiet simply the ones that got comments was when I directly asked for peoples opinion. Like is this right? Any comments? Does anyone have experience with this?

Are you going to SES London?

  4. Donna,

    Thank you for your input.

    Michael,

I moderate all comments, so feel free to spam me anytime you feel like doing so.

    Lisa,

    Thank you for your tips.

I am not going to SES since I am no longer a SEO consultant. I have left that line of work, I am not a SEO anymore.

  5. Hi,
thanks for the Inputs,in today’s online scenario, people are clubs with a Social Media where they share their views and Comments.if people don’t know about your post and unique content or concept then how they will post comment on your post!! Think about that!
