Life after Adsense

A lot of people like myself is on webmaster welfare, I get a big check from Google each month (actually a direct bank deposit). But what to do when Google bans your account. It can happen to the best of us, actually it is possible to get someone banned by using their publisher id on pages that are in violation of the terms of service.

It is possible to appeal, but you as a publisher has to carry the burden of proof. So if Google bans you you need to find a alternative source of income. This blog post lists a few alternatives , there is no need for me to repeat them, but it fails to mention affiliate programs. If you have a site that are about a single topic then you might be better of finding a few affilaite programs. It takes more work than contextual advertising, but most of the time it will be worth it. Being banned from adsense could be a blessing in disguise.

This is a somewhat old blogpost about the being banned but still highly relevant:

How many publishers are really being suspended from AdSense?

Problogger has a nice blogpost about how to not get banned from Adsense
