Wikipedia has added “nofollow” on external links.

The Wikipedia is now offically unable to deal with the huge amount of spammers that target their articles, they have decided to add the rel=”nofollow” attribute to all external links! This is not a unexpected move, I had expected that Wikipedia would decleare defeat this soon. I sort of expected that the huge community of spamfighting Wikipedians would be more than enough to monitor the articles.
The rel=”nofollow” attribute is only good with a few search engines, and is not enough to stop spammers. Just look at the huge amount of blog spam. According to one source 96% of all attemted blog posts are spam. At the same time most blogs use the nofollow attributeWhen I in a few years look back, then this will be the day that marked the downfall of Wikipedia.

[tags]nofollow, spam, Wikipeda[/tags]
