Predictions for 2007

It is December 31th or “New Years Eve”. It is time to spend a little time thinking about the year to come.

Me

In 2007 I will be a full time student, and a weekend affiliate marketer. So I expect to make less money next year, but hopefully it will turn out alright. I will have to do a little consulting to tidy up, finish or follow up on projects that I have or has been involved with. But I will not take on any new business.I

I will lose some weight, exercise a little bit more and I will run a marathon or half marathon on September 30th.

This blog

I am maintaining this blog just for myself and my online friends, but certain posts has attracted a much wideraudiencee. I hope I will write a few posts which could beinterestingg next year, but I will probably not write a daily post. I would predict that I would type in 150 posts next year and that maybe 10% of them would be worth reading for a wideraudiencee.
WWW

The world of SEO is changing and I predict that Social Media Optimization will become established as independent field. I would expect that a large number of firms and independent consultant will specialise in social media and not offer traditional SEO services. It would be a goodthing.

There will be no spammy made for adsensee sites a year from now. Google needs to smarten up, a lot of big advertisers are outing out from the “content network”. They would need to start reviewing sites, and increasing quality. If Google does nothing then the big spenders will use other content networks.

The terms “black hat” and “white hat” will finally have lost their meaning a year from now. You can blame it on web 2.0, with the huge amount of syndicated content andAPI’ss out there it is possible to create useful semi-auto generated mashups, and it would no longer be “black hat”. It would be totally different than spamm auto generated sites of 2006.

There will be a merger between Yahoo and Microsoft.

Google’s market share will decrease, I read somewhere that their share is now close to 70% world wide.  There is just to muchcompetitionn in the search space to maintain that kind of dominance.
XHTML has in my opinion proven itself to be a complete failure, maybe this would be a way forward.  2007 will tell.

The World

It will be another demanding year in the war against terrorism. Hopefully the USA will get more support from her European allies.

I would wish you all a very happy new year.
