SEO’s are not internet marketers

I am sick and tired of SEO’s that claim to be marketers.
A Internet marketer is trained in making assessments, research the market, identity development, building brand awareness and so on. It is not something you could learn in a week end, you need to spend at least five years getting a master degree in that field.
I don’t expect a Internet marketer to be a SEO and I do not expect a SEO to be a Internet marketer. It is two different professions.
I like to cook, I guess I could be pretty good in the kitchen. If I had to make food for a dinner party of 30 people I just might pull it off, but this doesn’t make me a chef.

I’m a marketer that happens to SEO. Online promotion does include the things you mentioned and SEO is a discipline that definately helps. But I guess it depends on what you think being an SEO is about.
BTW you misspelled “cook”.

Yes, some marketers are SEO’s and I love that. Infact I admire the detailed plans the marketers can draw up to promote a product or business. I just had a marketer explain to me why it makes sense to spend a lot of time and money fighting for vanity rankings. It is just lovely.

LOL
Not all marketers are equal in tallent, ambition, drive or clarity of purpose.
Non-marketer-SEOs fall into the same trap of looking for vanity rankings. I see it daily.
